ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PORTRAIT PAINTING
This painting of two members of a Welsh mining family was the culmination of a long thought process that suddenly erupted into life. It was eventually painted during a COVID fever. I barely remember the process at all. This probably reflects the style and fauvist energy in the piece. It depicts resilience, suffering and comradeship. How heritage and kinship provide the glue holding communities together even in adverse times. The painting seeks to expose the paradox of living in a poor community, dependent on dangerous work for survival, but the sense of loss that occurs when that living is stolen away by cruel and selfish people.
Created using acrylics on canvas and varnished, this work of art would grace any home or office wall. A great gift for a friend or relative.
